How is Eurofins collaborating with states to support wastewater initiatives?
Our full service offering ranges from consulting, to R&D, to testing wastewater for SARS CoV-2 and other pathogens as per your organization, business, city, county, or state’s needs. If your area has any uncertainty over wastewater surveillance testing for COVID-19, we are eager to meet to discuss and understand your vision, identify any potential gaps, and provide insight on how to best serve your needs.
What are other states, local municipalities, corporate agencies, and other institutions doing?
Every client is different, and there are many aspects to consider when it comes to wastewater surveillance testing.
We are working with entities to assist with establishing an appropriate testing plan and/or developing an applicable protocol.
We are working with other entities to expand their testing to include new platforms or sample types (for example, RT-PCR vs. ddPCR or influent samples vs. sludge).
In other cases, there are some entities that have on-site testing capabilities but face capacity or staffing constraints to execute the work. We have helped these clients enhance their in-house testing programs through our insourcing solutions.
What is your process for onboarding a wastewater surveillance project?
Each project begins with an initial discussion between our technical team and yours to determine the testing needs and discuss the various ways we can support them.
Once we collaborate to understand your vision and strategize, we will recommend potential solutions for you to consider the best path forward.
We can then draft a Statement of Work to outline the scope of the project, highlighting key variables such as instrument platform, samples per week, sample type, and pricing. Once all parties have aligned and signed a Statement of Work, the group would draft a PO that we would invoice against as work is completed.
We are interested in discussing a partnership, but have questions related to funding. Where should we start?
Some states have been granted funds explicitly for wastewater surveillance testing for SARS-CoV-2, others are looking at ELC related funding. In some cases, there have even been joint efforts with other organizations, including the FDA and USDA to study potential intersections between SARS-CoV-2 from an agricultural context.
We can help entities navigate the topic of funding to explore new or existing wastewater surveillance programs in your state.
