Sustainable Organic Solutions (Nigeria)
Sustainable Organic Solutions
SOS is a multifaceted organisation that seeks to establish food sustainability within the Nigerian urban sphere, and to establish female farmers, with the support of their local community. The installation of micro-grids allows for aquaculture, which, combined with conventional, or aquaponic farming, facilitates dense urban food production as well as promoting STEM education for local communities. Education, access to quality food, and community enhancement through female-owned businesses are benefits of SOS’ work.
In 2020, Eurofins Foundation’s grant enabled the development of the first training centre, a pilot farm in Lagos, which demonstrates more sustainable urban agricultural practices and also educates over 50 women and young people in STEM, providing training for more gainful employment.
