Extension of IECEx Accreditation - Certification of Flame Arresters

We are pleased to inform you that on December 9th, 2024, Eurofins Product Testing Italy Srl obtained the extension of its IECEx Accreditation for the following standards applicable to Flame Arresters:
- ISO 16852: Flame Arresters - Performance requirements, test methods and limits for use
- ISO/IEC 80079-49: Explosive atmospheres - Part 49: Flame Arresters - Performance requirements, test methods and limits of use
As a Notified Body (No. 0477) under the ATEX Directive, Eurofins Product Testing Italy operates with its own laboratories for testing Equipment, Components, and Protection Systems. Over recent years, we have tested and certified Flame Arresters of various types and sizes.
With this accreditation extension, we are now able to test and certify Flame Arresters in compliance with the IECEx INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION SCHEME, acting as Certification Body (ExCB) and Testing Laboratory (ExTL).
The main recognized tests, conducted in accordance with EN ISO 16852 and ISO/IEC 80079-49, include the Combustion Test, Flame Passage Verification, Pressure Test with Flow Measurement.
Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to expanding and improving our certification services, we have approved development plans for the coming years. Starting in 2025, we aim to test and certify the following additional types of Protection Systems Vent Panels (EN 14797), Flameless Vent Panels (EN 16009), Swing Valves (EN 16447), Explosion Isolation Systems (EN 15089), such as flap valves, guillotine valves, and rotary valves.
Eurofins Product Testing Italy, with decades of experience in the certification of Ex products as an ATEX Notified Body, has been recognized since 2014 as an ExCB and ExTL under the IECEx scheme and currently covers the following standards and types of protection:
