Marine Stewardship Council Chain of Custody
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global non-profit organization that promotes sustainable fishing practices and seafood traceability. Through its certification and eco-labeling program, the MSC aims to ensure the health of our oceans and seafood supplies for future generations.
The Germany office of Eurofins Food Assurance is capable to run Marine Stewardship Council certification according to MSC and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) criteria in the Chain of Custody (COC) area. The scope considers the activity, reported species and suppliers of the entity.
During the audit, logo usage and number assignment will be verified in the audit. It is applicable to any organisation that trades and handles products from a certified fishery or fish farm. Products that do not fulfill the requirements cannot be sold and marketed as MSC/ASC product.
ASC uses the MSC traceability standard for all certified fish products that originate from ASC-certified fish farms. This gives supply chain companies the opportunity to obtain certification for both MSC and ASC products in a single audit. After successful auditing, two separate certificates are issued.
