CE Marking for fertilisers and biostimulants
As fertilisers and biostimulants play a crucial role in sustainable food production and the overall food chain, the European Union has harmonised requirements of EU and EEA and formulated Fertilizing Product Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 (FPR), aiming to regulate access to the European community market for biostimulants and other fertiliser products for the first time, while protecting consumers’ health. With the regulation, any fertilisers and biostimulants distributed in EU market shall carry CE Mark to avoid each country specific approval process.
Eurofins Certification, one of Eurofins Assurance’s accredited offices in France, is an approved Notified Body by local authorities and the European Commission for fertilisers and biostimulants CE Marking. Scope of Fertilizing Product Regulation
Depending on the product’s PFC and CMC composition, there are four Modules with specific safety and quality requirements, as well as control processes:
Module A
Internal production control
Module A1
Internal production control and supervised product testing by a Notified Body
Module B
EC documentary assessment by a Notified Body (Module B), followed by internal inspection of conformity to type (Module C)
Module D1
Quality assurance of the manufacturing process. This module takes place in two stages: a first stage of documentary assessment and a second stage of on-site audit to assess the conformity of the quality control processes in place.
