Aquatic Vertebrates
The toxic effects of plant protection products (PPPs), pharmaceuticals and chemicals on fish are tested in accordance with the latest OECD and OPPTS guidelines.
Acute toxicity studies
The tests are performed according to OECD 203 or OPPTS 850.1075 with the following fish species:
- Rainbow trout (Onchorynchus mykiss)
- Zebrafish (Danio rerio)
- Fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas)
- Carp (Cyprio carpio)
- Medaka (Oryzias latipes)
- and several other species on demand
We also offer the Fish Embryo Acute Toxicity (FET) Test according to OECD 236.
Long-term toxicity studies:
- Fish juvenile growth test (OECD 215)
- Bioconcentration test (OECD 305)
- Early life stage toxicity test (OECD 210)
- Short term toxicity testing on embryo and sac-fry stages (OECD 212)
- Fish juvenile growth test (OECD 215)
For standard test design zebra fish and rainbow trout will be used. Other species can be offered on demand.
General facts:
- Zebrafish, fathead and medaka are cultured and reared in-house.
- Local suppliers are sourced for rainbow trout, carp and others.
- All tests can be performed static, semi-static or under flow-through conditions.
- Depending on test item properties several different pumping devices for application are available like e.g. peristaltic-, HPLC- and diluter pumps.
- Tests can be performed with purified tap water or with reconstituted water according to ISO 6341. Fully automated water provision is available.
- All labs are state-of-the-art temperature controlled.
