New pesticide succesfully registered for drone spraying in Hungary

Recently in Hungary, a new plant protection product has been officially authorized for drone spraying usage in maize, with proper instructions.
This authorization follows the successful completion of an official registration trial by Eurofins Agroscience Services, in compliance with the new, complex regulatory guidance for drone spraying experiments. In Hungary, maize cultivation represents about 1 million hectares.
This ground breaking project required a number of scientific validations, including;
- the right efficiency and spray volume
- correct parameters to minimise drift
- accurate ecotoxicological values
- safe usage
Our team, led by András Borhi, did a fabulous job, and the Hungarian authority audited EAS highly during the conduction of the trial. In Hungary, there is a strict national guidance for drone spraying licensing, which we have successfully navigated - precise work and communication with the authorities was key to success!
Following preliminary discussions on protocol with the authorities and the client, the field experiment was conducted on a sunny day in July 2024. Over ten people attended alongside the EAS team, including two client representatives and several officials, to monitor and ensure protocols were adhered to.
In summary, this project resulted in EAS Hungary being the first organization in the country to obtain a pesticide drone spraying license for large-scale cultivation.
In Hungary, drone spraying is developing slowly but significant progess is being made. EAS experts are engaged in discussion with the authorities to further clarify the guidance, it should allow for a more cost effective and easier route to implement formulation approvals for drones. Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
